World History Assignment 11-9-10

Ask students to assume one of the following roles: a Roman patrician, a Roman plebeian, or a Roman Soldier, a Roman woman, or a citizen of a land conquered by Rome. Then ask students to write a letter to a friend which describes their lives and the important developments taking place around them. Their letters should comment on the conditions with which they are happy and those with which they are unhappy. They should also describe their hopes and goals for the future. The letter should be written in goggle docs and shared with Mr. Barker.

With each company a student must list: when the company was establish, product or products produced by that company, private or corporate organization, and how are they familiar with this company. Each student will chose an invention or process discussed in 6.1. Students will illustrate a poster identifying machines that use the assigned technology or items that are made with that technology. Write a caption identifying the inventor of the technology or process its common uses. Then on the back students will explain how technology has changed student's lives. Students will write several paragraphs explaining whether technology has had a positive or negative impact.

Use the Internet to learn more about the city of Rome, both in ancient times and today. How important are the ruins of the old city to the new city? Prepare a short oral report with visuals for the class on one aspect of the ancient city of Rome that may still influence Romans today. It could be a building or an idea. Make sure to explain how the modern city has embraced this part of its past. Use goggle docs for your presentation

Each student is to write a 1-page descriptive paper of a conflict between American Indians and American Settlers in the West: the Battle of Little Bighorn, the Long Walk, or the Massacre at Wounded Knee. Each paper must explain the events of the conflict and describe the significance of these events and what were the results of the conflict.
